In a small town just north of Boston, Ma in February of 2013 Founders Paul Mignone and Michael Kelleher met to discuss amongst other things, how they could create a solution to make the mortgage loan application, approval closing process easier and more enjoyable for borrowers and their real estate agents. The idea, which seemed simple at the time, was to create the first lending ecosystem which would update borrowers, real estate agents and their loan officer in real time as their loan moved through the underwriting process. Being long time mortgage industry veterans they were keenly aware of the systemic issues plaguing the industry and the obstacles they would face being innovators and disruptors but they were now on a mission to make their vision a reality.
Paul and Mike knew two things for sure, it needed to integrate with the enterprise’s LOS and it had to be mobile. After a quick search of the App Store for “mortgage app” which yielded no results they knew they were on to something. Now all they needed was someone to write the code to bring this vision to market. Enter Joe Spano, the third and final Founder. After interviewing a number of viable options Paul and Mike extended an offer to Joe to become part of the original brain trust and management team. Joe stood out as he possessed extensive ecosystem and security experience working in both healthcare and education industries. Easy Mortgage Apps was born.
